About the Report
Practical carpet & floor care guides for Maryland homes, published from Baltimore for the whole state.
The Maryland Home Report is an independent home-care publication for Maryland homeowners, renters, landlords and property managers. We publish practical guides on the things Maryland houses actually deal with: carpet and floors, move-outs, pet damage, salt seasons, and the maintenance habits that decide whether a surface lasts five years or fifteen.
What we cover
Our focus is floor and fabric care in the Mid-Atlantic climate — the salt-and-mud season that runs from December to May, the humid summers that make garden-level units musty, and the turn-season chaos of May through August that property managers know too well. Every guide we publish is written to be usable: a schedule you can follow, a checklist you can print, or a question to ask a contractor before you hire them.
Our editorial standard
- Specific over general. A guide that works in Maryland should say Maryland temperatures, Maryland seasons, Maryland prices.
- Numbers from real jobs. When we quote a price, it's a real published rate from a real local company, labeled as such.
- Honest about limits. We publish what doesn't work, what can't be fixed, and when to stop DIYing — not just the happy path.
Our featured local business
This report features one local business at a time. Our featured partner is Xtreme Cleans LLC, a family-owned carpet and floor-care company based in Owings Mills, serving 12 Maryland counties plus Baltimore City since 2014. Their technicians and owner contribute several of the guides on this site, and their bylines say so. If you'd like to see your Maryland home-services business featured, see our submissions page.
